One of the biggest U.S. mobile operators AT&T continues its speedy LTE coverage expansion. The company wants to spend $14 billion on this project, and from now on AT&T LTE Orlando, Denver, Milwaukee list also includes such cities as Tacoma, Provo, Louisville, Annapolis and York.
More and more AT&T iPhone users from different U.S. states [FL, CO, WI, WA, UT, KY, MD and PA] will be able to connect to LTE and enjoy this technology, of course, in case they own an LTE model – the sixth-generation iPhone 5. Customers who got AT&T cellular iPad or preordered LTE models of the fourth-gen tablet computer will also have a chance to use speedy LTE connection in eight new areas. The carrier promises that notable speed gains should appear in the nearby future.
LTE for iPhone 5 and iPads Expansion
The expanded list of AT&T LTE in Orlando, Denver, Milwaukee and other cities also adds LTE coverage to other places in Florida and California where AT&T rolled out its high-speed technology last week.
The big roll-out has been confirmed by many reports and soon customers in Greater Seattle Area as well as iPhone 5 and iPad users from Daytona Beach, Provo-Orem, Anne Arundel County and other places will get improved LTE coverage. As the carrier states, its LTE speeds are 10 times faster than 3G speeds. Besides, it promises that its users will enjoy 4G connection even on AT&T 4G HSPA+ network when they are outside of 4G LTE locations.
Plans for the Future
According to AT&T, this mobile operator wishes to bring 4G LTE to 99% of its twenty two state wireline service locations. It hopes to get approximately 118Mhz of spectrum across the U.S.
Even though the investments look huge, another mobile operator is still the top company in terms of high LTE coverage – we are talking about Verizon that covers about 2/3 of the United States population. The 2013 will be a big year for both carriers, as they will continue to expand their LTE coverage across the U.S.
