With iOS 9 release and new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus upgrade customers might want to use even more because of the big amount of new features and options available in 2015.

Does AT&T throttle unlimited data users? Yes, it does. However the U.S. carriers assures that not all iOS 9 users will be throttled this year. The company promise to slow the speeds only for heavy users who cross the 22GB limit per month.

It is curious that the company is changing its rules silently. AT&T iPhone throttling plans are now updated in its support documents. The policy is upgraded specifically for grandfathered unlimited data plan subscribers [here is how to unlock iPhone from AT&T to avoid throttling]. These users will be officially throttled once they get over the 22GB of data limit in the singe billing cycle.

Previously it was reported that AT&T was throttling iPhone users who crossed the 5GB limit in congested areas. It’s great the the carrier increased the limit by 4.5 times however it’s still unclear why ‘unlimited data plan’ users are limited to how much they allowed to use at regular speeds.

What do you think about this initiative? Are you ok with getting only 22GB until you become throttled by AT&T? This is of course better than previous rules but not all grandfathered plan users will be happy to be throttled. The company is trying to get away from the unlimited data plan subscribers and the only method it came up with was throttling those who didn’t agree to switch to a different plan.
