Apple Pay Starts to Support Major Banks in Singapore

Apple Pay gets more popular in different countries across the world. While U.S. iPhone users are in love with this payment system – users from other parts of the globe are only getting used to Apple Pay in Singapore, China, Australia and other places.

The Cupertino-based giant is getting better support from different banks. For example, the company recently added more Apple Pay banks Singapore names to the list. It is now supported by five biggest local banks. The list includes UOB, POSB, OCBC Bank and two more financial institutions: Standard Chartered Bank and DBS Bank.

All these banks account for most credit / debit cards in Singapore. They issue over 80% of all MasterCard and Visa cards in this country and the support for Apple Pay service means that most iPhone customers who live here can leaved their wallets at home and securely shop with their smartphone only.

Apple Pay works similar to most mobile payment systems however it has one main advantage. You can pay directly from your iPhone within just seconds. It is curious that Singapore saw the launch of Apple Pay only in April 2016. The service only supported American Express cards and is now accepting MasterCard, American Express and Visa debit and credit cards through more than 30,000 retail points across the country.

Where can you pay with Apple Pay in Singapore? We’ll name some of the most popular places. Starbucks, Cold Storage retail network, Uniqlo outlet and other retail points are now happy to accept the payments directly from iPhone’s Pay.
