Users who will want to unlock their iPhone out of contract from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile will have to meet some requirements, but these rules are simpler than it used to be. The set of requirements for unlock has been made by CTIA.

This new AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint iPhone unlocking policy works only for users who have paid the full price for their smartphone or are already out of contact. If you are still on contract, you can order factory IMEI unlock for iPhone 6 / 6 Plus and other models which is not free, but guarantees fast and reliable result that lasts forever.

If you are out of contract and your IMEI is clean you will have to call your carrier and ask it to unlock you whether by MSL or DSU type of service. The first one supports all iPhones [carriers will send special unlock code for iPhone users that should remove the restrictions]. The second method is the special auto unlock via OTA update that will support only iPhone 5S / 6 and 6 Plus models starting on February 19, 2015.

It is also must-know that only existing customers will get the free service from their network. New subscribers as well as former users will have to pay AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile for the chance to become SIM free even once they are out of contract and have a clean IMEI.
